I have known Bob for many, many years through my job with the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police. Bob was a long-time Lieutenant with the Richmond, Va. Police Department and became one of our VACP members and someone we worked with a lot on traffic safety initiatives over the years. Bob was a very dedicated police officer and served his community for 50 years! He truly loved putting on the uniform everyday and being with his police family. He was always asking how he could be of help when he attended one of our conferences or other events!
And then one day, Bob met Leesa and he finally found the person for whom he was ready to finally file those retirement papers! I was so touched when Bob reached out to me and asked if I would photograph their small, springtime wedding at Emmaus Christian Church in Powhatan County, Va. I loved hearing about how they met online and instantly fell for each other. The wedding was a family affair with Leesa’s son walking her down the aisle and co-officiating, her daughter serving as her matron of honor, and Bob’s police “brother” serving as his best man. We even had some of Leesa’s family join in via FaceTime!
The ceremony was followed by an intimate reception in the church’s fellowship hall with traditional southern food and a “wedding brownie” instead of cake! The bride and groom shared a first dance and then we gathered everyone for a group photo on the church’s front portico. At the end of their beautiful day, Bob and Leesa climbed into a brand new white Chevy pickup truck (Bob’s retirement gift to himself!) that was all decked out for the occasion and rode off to begin their new adventure together. ❤️
